The purpose of this module is to provide students with the opportunity of developing further the skills acquired in Research Training A. The context for this is the researching, planning, and delivery of a 20-minute presentation.

Indicative content includes:


Writing for spoken presentation.
Techniques of presentation.
Group discussions of presentations in the Music seminar series.
Trial presentations of your paper’s Introduction in a workshop environment.

Develop students’ skills in musicology to the level required for successful work at Masters’ level.

Assessment Strategy

The assessment strategy is designed to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of key issues in recent musicological debates.

Thus, the summative assessment for this module consists of:


20 Minute Presentation
1500-Word Selfcritique


Formative assessment

5-minute practice presentation

Feedback

Detailed written feedback will be provided within three weeks of the submission of the summative assessment. Immediate oral feedback will be given on the formative assessment.

Verbal feedback will be given to contributions during class discussions as well as individual tutorials on coursework essay plans.
