Educational aims of the programme

Train and develop actors with an appreciation and understanding of creative, aesthetic and communication high order performance skills in a broad range of artistic situations.

Provide a theoretical understanding and critical awareness of key theatrical, cultural and social contexts

Develop intellectual and practical skills to reinforce and articulate self-reflection and critical awareness

Develop critical and independent practitioners imbued with a sense of learning as a lifetime pursuit via a commitment to professional and personal development

Provide an integrated approach within an academic and vocational creative training environment in pursuit of developing and sustaining a career within the performance and entertainment industries

Introduce and develop the relevant skills and techniques required of the contemporary musical theatre performer within a variety of performance contexts and environments

Explore and investigate a variety of key contextual, cultural and performance related issues and practitioners and frame them appropriately within their cultural, social, political and theoretical contexts

Acquire and develop the vocal and physical techniques, skills and universal vocabularies inherent within the profession

Programme structure

Full-time

This Bachelor's Degree (Honours) programme is studied full-time over three academic years, consisting of 360 credits (120 credits at FHEQ levels 4, 5 and 6). All modules are semester based and worth 15 credits with the exception of project, practice based and dissertation modules.
Possible exit awards include:
- Bachelor's Degree (Ordinary) (300 credits)
- Diploma of Higher Education (240 credits)
- Certificate of Higher Education (120 credits)
